What is my child going through?

So you've received the diagnosis for your child, or maybe you're waiting for a diagnosis but your child is showing traits of autism and neurodivergence but what can you do to support them?

We fully understand and appreciate the frustrations and the struggles that families face when you have received or are waiting for a diagnosis because we have experienced first hand the lack of support and the vast wealth of incorrect information that can be found surrounding autism in young children.

At The Autism Training Network Ltd we want to offer support and guidance to families of neurodiverse children who are at any stage of their diagnosis pathway, so we have created a workshop for parents, to offer a little more insight and offer some hints, tips and strategies to help better understand and encourage your child.

The workshop that we have created is a 4 week programme where we gather a small group of parents in an online video call on Zoom for one hour, once a week and we look at different subjects and topics to help give better knowledge and understand but it also gives you the opportunity to connect with likeminded parents who are in a similar situation.

The workshop schedule is as follows:

Week 1 - Understanding Autism, what it looks like and what is actually going on in their brain

Week 2 - Communication & Language - how what we say, or don't say, has an impact

Week 3 - Sensory Processing, sensory difficulties and how we can support these

Week 4 - Pathological Demand Avoidance, what it is, what it looks like and how to support with this

The workshops will run each Monday evening from 7:30pm to 8:30pm and will be via Zoom. The cost to attend the 4 workshop sessions is £100.00 in total and includes not only the workshops themselves but access to resources and signposting from The Autism Training Network Ltd for a period of 3 months from the beginning of the workshop sessions.
